Harmony Korine's EDGLRD Is Getting Into Video Games
?si=1bSI7Gje1LkKvCaDEDGLRD, Harmony Korine's IP-based creative and technology studio, is launching a dedicated gaming division (called, you guessed it, EDGLRD Games) with an arcade-style first-person shooter titled Tamashika.EDGLRD stated that the sensory-overloaded game was built with "speed, precision, and fluid motion" at its core. The gameplay sets players in a "procedurally generated labyrinth, armed with a semi-automatic pistol, a tanto blade, and abilities like parrying, teleportation, and astral projection," per the official description. "It’s less of a traditional game and more of an audiovisual trip—fusing hand-drawn animations, precision sound design, and an unpredictable, rhythmic flow state.”With Tamashika, Korine aims to change the sensory gaming experience, in the same vein as household classics like Wipeout and GTA. “Wipeout set the standard for immersion. GTA redefined player freedom. Tamashika pushes the next wave of sensory experiences. Our games are built to be instinctive—fast, dynamic, and engaging," Korine said in a statement. Taking place at Knockdown Center on Friday, March 21, the event will see EDGLRD reimagine the gaming-inspired film with live DJ mixes, followed by sets from Eyedress and Yves Tumor.Tamashika will be available to play at Day of the Devs (March 16) and at the Game Developers Conference (March 17 to 21) before it officially launches via Steam this summer.
