Mike Tyson 'mistake' identified for Jake Paul fight with Conor McGregor example given
Former UFC star Chael Sonnen believes Mike Tyson and Jake Paul have made a 'mistake' in choosing to fight at the 80,000-seater AT&T Stadium in Texas. The controversial fight between Tyson and Paul is just a few weeks away with anticipation building.Millions are expected to tune in to watch with Netflix streaming the event live for its subscribers. The fight is taking place at the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, which has held a few high-profile fights over the years.Manny Pacquaio headlined the first boxing event held at the stadium when he retained his WBO welterweight belt against Joshua Clottey in March 2010.There have been seven fight nights held at the AT&T Stadium, nicknamed 'Jerry's World', in total with Canelo Alvarez and Billy Joe Saunders breaking the all-time attendance record for a boxing match at the time with 73,126 people crammed in to watch their May 2021 clash. But Sonnen has raised his doubts on whether Tyson and Paul will be able to break that record when they step into the ring on November 15."When I tell there's one mistake made, it's Jerry's World," he said on his YouTube channel."I have the same response to them fighting at Jerry's World as Conor McGregor, which is what are they doing there?"How did they get that? How did they even talk. It's not as though Texas is a fight capital by the way."Are Conor and I wrong? Can they fill that up? I maintain if you gave tickets away you couldn't get 80,000 people there."I don't care how you do it, I do not believe you're going to get 80,000 people to drive to an event where the building is so far away you got to get in a golf cart, get driven up, get dropped off for one match on an event like these."There is no title on the line between Tyson and Paul with the former last fighting professionally back in 2005.But Sonnen feels the fight's promoters will eventually bring out a one-of-a-kind belt for the winner to hold aloft like Floyd Mayweather did against Conor McGregor."Why is this such a big match? What is the story of the match?" Sonnen added."There's nothing on the line it would seem and there's no promoter that's come out [and revealed otherwise]."I was at the Mayweather-McGregor press conference when they brought the billion-dollar belt out."It was beautiful, it was encrusted with diamonds. I was working that event backstage when the belt got left there and I had to take it into the front desk. It had no diamonds on it."It was none of these things. But there was just something people understood about a belt. That was important from a production standpoint to cap the night off with having someone hold a belt up."What's the fight about? And we have rules if you want to tell a great story.LATEST SPORT NEWS: Ben Whittaker ordered to show proof of injury after falling over top rope in bizarre boxing incidentJack Grealish lost £500 bet he made midway through England's win over Finland to team-mateFrazer Clarke health update as British boxer left with jaw wired after brutal knockout loss to Fabio Wardley"We have rules in understanding that good promotion and good storytelling are the exact same thing so what is the story of this fight?"I think we can all understand it as, 'can Mike do it?' That's the big question."Can he make it through the training camp. Can he make it the distance of the fight. Before we even get to the decision or the question of can he beat him, we have these other questions."Can he make the walk? Can he arrive?"
