Naperville Jaycees Seek Volunteers for 2024 Last Fling, Labor Day weekend
Volunteers need apply to assist special events that might include the Jaycees mascot, Frank E. Fling, during 2024 Last Fling, Aug. 30 thru Sept. 2.
Naperville Jaycees Report
Each year, over the four days of Labor Day Weekend, the Naperville Jaycees host a festival attended by tens of thousands of locals and visitors alike. Since 2021, the Last Fling has been focused on community spirit. With that in mind, the Jaycees invite you, your organization, or your business to get in on the action as a Volunteer for the 2024 event, set from Fri., Aug. 30, thru Mon., Sept. 2.
Volunteers are needed throughout the event so there could be different needs each day. Beverage and Food Tent Workers, Special Event Assistants, Entrance Tent Workers, Signage, and Parking Attendants are some, but not all of the opportunities available.
Nonprofit groups welcome to apply
Did you know volunteers are able to sign up as a representative for a 501c3 organization; earning $7/hour as a volunteer for that group. Types of organizations that may qualify are athletic teams, scout troops and nonprofit organizations.
According to Karen Coleman, Last Fling Public Relations Chair, volunteering at the Last Fling is a great way to spend time with friends, family or could be a really fun team-building event.
“…Or it could be a really fun team-building event,” Coleman said. “Not only will you make memories, but your time, in 4-5 hour shifts, will make an incredible difference for the community.”

Naperville Jaycees fundraising leaves its mark
Back in the mid-1980s, members of the Naperville Jaycees pledged to raise funds for a Riverwalk initiative to build the Jaycees Marina in the old quarry along Eagle Street. Subsequently, the service club also has supported other attractive projects along the Riverwalk, including the Jaycees Playground, Jaycees Gazebo and Jaycees Park.
The Last Fling is the Naperville Jaycees’ largest fundraiser, raising more than two million dollars for nonprofit organizations throughout Naperville and DuPage County in the past 20 years.
The Jaycees thank you, the volunteers and sponsors, who have continued to support the organization. Volunteer and Sponsorship opportunities for the 2024 Last Fling are available by emailing [email protected].
The Naperville Jaycees is a nonprofit service organization for young professionals dedicated to offering Naperville-area residents the opportunity to better themselves and to grow personally and professionally while giving through community service and fundraising efforts.
The group’s annual events include the Easter Egg Hunt, Lobster Day, and countless other worthwhile projects that positively impact the community. The group also organizes and staffs the Last Fling in close cooperation with the City of Naperville, the Naperville Park District, numerous Naperville community organizations, and hundreds of volunteers.
