Bronny’s younger brother, Bryce, posted an Instagram clip of the former USC star’s reaction to being picked.
The James family held a draft party on Thursday as the room erupted in cheers after his selection.
Bronny, who was donning a brown suit, was seen teary-eyed as his mother, Savannah, gave him a Lakers hat to wear.
He put on the hat as his mother was using a tissue to wipe tears out of her eyes.
Bryce captioned the video, “You did it brother. I love ya more than life,” while adding a heart emoji.
Bronny had shared his reaction to being a 2024 second-round pick on Instagram as he wrote, “Beyond blessed.”
By selecting Bronny, the Lakers have paired a father and son together on the same team for the first time in NBA history.
Bronny was a 5-star recruit when he committed to play for USC.
However, he suffered cardiac arrest during a practice with the college squad.
Bronny was later diagnosed with a congenital heart defect, which caused the medical emergency.
He rehabbed and was back on the court for the Trojans last December.
Bronny went on to average 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 19.4 minutes per game.
Bronny only worked out individually for the Phoenix Suns and his eventual team, the Lakers, leading up to the draft.
He was slated to be picked in the second round of the draft.

Bronny and his legendary dad, decided to not travel to New York City for the big NBA event and instead kicked back in Los Angeles for a barbeque with friends and family all waiting for the eventual news.
The U.S. Sun learned that everything from the moment his name is called to his first days at his new team will be filmed by a crew from James and business partner Maverick Carter’s SpringHill media company.
The plan will be to release a Bronny documentary, with LeBron set to play a starring role.
“Bronny hasn’t been invited to the Green Room, which would have given the possibility for LeBron and co to attend the first round draft so the family decided to have a party at home,” an NBA source told The U.S. Sun.
“Bronny’s favorite food is BBQ and everyone will enjoy some nice drinks with some loved ones, both family and friends of his from high school and USC.
“It should be a great night.”
The Lakers used their first-round pick on Tennessee product Dalton Knecht.
Both Bronny and Knecht will be coached under new head coach JJ Redick.
