Century Walk: Pulitzer prize winner Dick Locher and Dick Tracy
September begins with a bang on Labor Day, September 2, and continues on to Patriot Day on September 11 and other holidays as well. Century Walk wishes to call your attention to September 25 which is National Comic Book Day.
So why not wander down to the Naperville Township building on the Riverwalk and take a look at what local artist and Pulitzer prize winner Dick Locher created – Dick Tracy – the 35th Century Walk location per our Public Art Guide and a comic strip character since 1931! Larger than life, the crime-fighter watches over the Riverwalk.
Known as the world’s most recognizable crime stopper, Dick Tracy stands as a Century Walk sculpture 9 feet tall along the Riverwalk. Dick Locher created the original 11-inch tall maquette that artist Donald Reed used as a model for the impressive sculpture created in 2010. (PN Photo)
And after spending some time checking out his credentials, you might wish to stop at all local stores or restaurants on Water Street.
