New TV game show lined up – and it’s based on a classic kids party game
THE producers of Big Brother are launching a brand new game show – and it’s based on an iconic kids party game.
Banijay – the company behind the iconic reality series and other hit shows such as MasterChef and Deal Or No Deal – are bringing Musical Chairs to TV.

Bosses have green-lit a new game show called Game of Chairs that will see contestants battle it out for a seat just like the party piece.
The game will start with ten competitors and nine chairs, but when the music stops, someone will be left without a seat.
Show bosses have blended new tactical and skill-based challenges into the competition for the series.
Whoever is left without a seat as the music stops will face-off with another contestant to determine who remains in the game.
As the competition progress and the contestants are eliminated, the prize pot will grow.
The victor will then face The Master Chair, where they will compete to win the grand final prize.
If they fail to secure it, they will compete again the next day alongside the last four eliminated contestants.
Speaking about the new series, James Townley, Chief Content Officer, Development at Banijay Entertainment said: “Nostalgia, tension, strategy, and knowledge come together in this original concept, which appeals to a wide demographic.
“Reimagining childhood favourites is a firm favourite with our clients, and Game of Chairs is a fantastic addition to our slate, complementing our successful formats in the space with the likes of LEGO® Masters and Bear Hunt.”
No channel has yet been attached to the format, which will be launched worldwide.
While Musical Chairs is meant to be a children’s game, it’s often played by adults for fun.
However, in Mexico they appear to take the game very seriously, with one incident in 2019 resulting in a punch-up.
