This included eating breakfast, getting dressed, playing outside, doing hair and makeup, and having her older two complete school work. For each task, Joy-Anna listed the time and the activity. Eagle-eyed fans noticed that "school" started at 9 a.m. and ended at 9:40 a.m. Many have since vented about the short amount of time dedicated to learning, particularly for the 7-year-old.On the r/DuggarsSnark subreddit, one poster called out Joy-Anna's homeschooling."Now, we obviously can't [k]now whether there is another time in the day they do more schoolwork but I honestly really doubt that," they wrote. The original poster (OP) added, "Gideon is 7 and her daughter like around 4 I think? Of course she doesn't need much schoolwork then. But Gideon is supposed to be in second grade and so 40 minutes of 'school' a day can't possibly be enough."

In the comments, many others chimed in with their thoughts."Educational neglect is a serious problem in this country. Its [sic] unfortunate," one person shared. "I know that 40-60 minutes of one on one education is adequate for some kids but you know damn well that she wasn’t dedicating that full time one on one while other younger kids are around. She is barely educated herself let alone skilled to provide educated [sic] to a child."Another Reddit user pointed out, "The idea that poorly homeschooled kids grow up and then homeschool their kids is frightening, to say the least."Related: Jinger Duggar's Nursery for Baby No. 3 Leaves Fans Concerned About the Same Safety HazardSomeone else shared, "My 7 year old son needs 40 minutes each day just for his homework! I couldn't imagine fitting an entire day's worth of school in that same time period."Meanwhile, a different user declared, "This is the reason that homeschooling should be illegal. These kids are not choosing this."Still, some people defended Joy-Anna, with one writing, "Aren’t they on vacation? I think it makes sense to cut down on the school during that time."Another echoed, "Honestly, 40 minutes of good schooling isn't too far off the mark for 7 years old. Many people say 1 hour per grade per day, and that was about right for out [sic] limited experience of homeschooling during the pandemic."Next: Jill Duggar Mourns "Devastating Loss" by Sharing "Little Glimpses of Joy" Brought to Her Family
