Windows Automatic Super Resolution will be limited to specific Copilot+ PCs at launch

Microsoft is gearing up to integrate super-resolution technology for gaming at the OS level. This upcoming feature, currently available to Windows Insiders, will allow super-resolution upscaling in select games and applications through the Windows graphics settings. However, it seems this feature will initially be limited to specific devices.
As noted by VideoCardz, the Auto SR function will only be compatible with Copilot+ PCs featuring Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processors during its initial launch. This means there will be no official support for x86 CPUs or Snapdragon X Plus processors (10-core).
Moreover, only a “curated set” of games will be compatible with this technology initially, but this list should grow as developers prepare their games for Windows Auto SR. Alternatively, you can enable Auto SR on games without support by default via Windows Graphics Settings or in-game.
While Microsoft has not disclosed any additional CPU architectures that will support this technology, upcoming releases such as AMD Strix Point and Intel Lunar Lake, scheduled for later this year, are expected to be featured in Microsoft Copilot+ branded PCs. Laptops with these CPUs should support Auto SR once they become available. Hopefully, this capability will eventually be made available to a broader range of hardware. Even if not officially, modders will surely find a way to enable Auto SR on more platforms.
