Waddle is under contract through the 2028 season after signing his three-year deal, worth $84.5 million.
With so much time with the Dolphins ahead, Waddle is turning his attention towards establishing himself with the young players.
Waddle is using his experience from his rookie year to pass on lessons he learned to the current Dolphins rookies.
“I go about it like when I was young,” Waddle told The U.S. Sun.
“I’ve been in their shoes, their in this league trying to make a name for themselves.
“So any time I can help them or guide them in the right direction I’ll do my best to.”
The Dolphins drafted two wide receivers in the 2024 NFL Draft.
With the No. 184 pick in the sixth round, the Dolphins selected Malik Washington out of the University of Virginia.
In the seventh round, they picked Tahj Washington with the 241st pick.
Waddle shared some high praise for his new teammates, and also explained how it’s important for him to spend time with them away from football activities.
“They’re great players but they’re also great people,” Waddle said.
“So any chance we have to hang out outside of football, outside of the facility, it’s important.”
During football activities, the Dolphins have some activities to help the offensive players bond.
Waddle shared that the team tracks their speed during all football activities to help crown a fastest player each week.
“It’s fun, you’ve got all these speed guys all around,” Waddle said.
“All these different weapons and playmakers all around.
“We do GPS almost every practice and every game, so normally whoever has the fastest GPS gets the crown for the week.
“We’re trying to dethrone the crown every week.”
The Dolphins are the fastest team in the NFL, registering six of the top-10 fastest runs of the 2023 season.
Tyreek Hill topped the list of Dolphins with a fastest speed of 22.1 mph.
Waddle and his young receiver mentees will look to dethrone that speed in the 2024 season.
