Weather Now: Drier Tonight; Tracking Hurricane Milton

Good Evening
An isolated left-over shower early this evening, otherwise much drier by tonight. We will start to see a much cooler pattern ahead in the coming days.
We're also tracking a very powerful Hurricane Milton in the Gulf of Mexico. Milton will impact the west coast of Florida mid week....more on Milton below.
Did you catch the aurora last night? It was brief, but amazing. Check out these pictures from around Southern New England and beyond.

TONIGHT
A quick isolated showers this evening, gradual clearing tonight and overall drier. Cooler with lows around 48 just before dawn
TUESDAY FORECAST
We'll have mostly sunny skies Tuesday. Cool and dry. Highs in the mid 60s.
LOOKING AHEAD
It then gets cooler for Wednesday....especially in the morning with lows in the low 40s...many areas could be down in the 30s Wednesday (and Thursday mornings).
TROPICS
We continue to monitor Hurricane Milton in the Gulf of Mexico. If you have property in Florida or if you are visiting Florida develop a plan now to protect your property and your family.
Milton is currently meandering around the Bay of Campeche between the Yucatan Peninsula and central Mexico and rapidly strengthening. The storm started as a Category 1 storm early this morning, but has intensified rapidly into a Category 5 storm with winds of 180 mph
Milton is expected to curve northeastward toward the west coast of Florida, possibly making landfall near Tampa Bay. It's impacts will be far beyond where the center makes landfall, however.
TUESDAY 6:00PM
WEDNESDAY 10:00PM
THURSDAY 8:00AM
The core of the winds could be between up to140-160 mph as it makes landfall.
Flooding rains are expected, especially to the north of the track, where 6-12" of rainfall is possible.
The life-threatening storm surge is expected to be between 10-15 feet along a big portion of western Florida from Palm Harbor to Venice. A storm surge is the result of the hurricane winds pushing massive amounts of water onto the coast. This can be the most dangerous part of a hurricane.
