2026 4-star safety Cortez Redding seeing Georgia interest intensify
Jonesboro (Ga.) 2026 four-star safety Cortez Redding is the next defensive back prospect at Jonesboro High School hoping to see Georgia enter his recruitment in a big way.
The Bulldogs have not offered the No. 145 overall prospect in the 2026 On3 Industry Rankings yet. That could change at some point.
Redding has been in communication with Georgia defensive backs coach Donte Williams and co-defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson.
“The defensive backs coach over there is showing me a lot of interest and he’s telling me that he wants to watch a few more of my games,” Redding said. “Everything has been good. They’ve been talking to me a lot and told me to keep working.”
Redding has already gained an appreciation of Robinson as a coach and as a person. Robinson’s personality is one that is relatable and easy to connect with for Redding.
“It’s his swag and the way that he carries himself,” Redding said. “I feel like he carries himself like a top defensive backs coach in the country. He has his own style.”
Redding already has nearly 40 offers. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has the hometown Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets as Redding’s leader early on.
Redding admits an offer from Georgia would be a big one. He grew up in a household that loves Georgia football.
“An offer from Georgia would mean the world to me,” Redding said. “That’s been my dream school since I was a kid. They would be a top school on my board.”
Georgia an unique opportunity for Cortez Redding
Redding’s teammate, four-star cornerback Jontavius Wyman has already announced his commitment to Georgia. Wyman and Redding are part of a trio of Power Four prospects in Jonesboro’s secondary.
The third prospect, Jamar Owens also carries 30-plus offers. The trio is actively looking to play together in college. They’ve been together since their youth football days.
“I love playing with these guys, I wouldn’t trade it for the world,” Redding said. “A lot of schools want to get us together. That’s definitely the goal. If there’s a situation where it works for us. I want to be able to play with them in college.”
