National Retailer Closes Outlet Stores In Westbrook, Mystic
WESTBROOK, CT — The HanesBrands outlet stores in Westbrook Outlets and Mystic closed at the end of January. The company had previously announced that all outlet stores will close."The closing team I worked with shared they were in the process of closing multiple store locations," Charlie Guthrie, general manager for Westbrook Outlets, said.In July 2024, Hilco Global purchased Hanes and took operational control of all Hanes outlets and Maidenform brick-and-mortar stores, according to a Hilco statement.Then in September, Hanes announced the sale of their Champion brand to Authentic Brands Group.Hanes Corporate said early this year that they would close all their outlet stores, called One Hanes Place, and two of their Connecticut locations closed Jan. 31. The Clinton store remains open, according to Connecticut Scoop. The Mystic location was at 12 Coogan Blvd.The loss of Hanes marks another closure at Westbrook Outlets. A bar, Tapville, shuttered in August and Pepperidge Farm closed its store in October. The outlets' site is expected to undergo big changes in the future.
