Snow Emergency Declared In Minneapolis: Here’s Where You Can’t Park

MINNEAPOLIS — The city of Minneapolis has declared a snow emergency, effective Wednesday, March 5 at 9:30 a.m., after a major winter storm dumped about 8 inches of snow across the Twin Cities metro area.Snow emergency parking restrictions will begin at 9 p.m. Wednesday night to allow crews to clear more than 1,000 miles of streets. To ensure safe and drivable streets, Minneapolis residents must follow a three-day parking schedule:Day 1 (March 5, 9 p.m. – March 6, 8 a.m.) – No parking on either side of snow emergency routes until plowed.Day 2 (March 6, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.) – No parking on the even-numbered side of non-snow emergency routes and on either side of parkways until plowed.Day 3 (March 7, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.) – No parking on the odd-numbered side of non-snow emergency routes until plowed.Following these rules helps keep streets clear for emergency vehicles and prevents tickets or towing.A map of which streets are snow emergency routes can be found on the city website. The article Snow Emergency Declared In Minneapolis: Here’s Where You Can’t Park appeared first on Minneapolis, MN Patch.
