Voices only: “Something ‘Bout Sunday Morning”
Welcome to Voices only.
“When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, ‘Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.’”
I read that verse (Luke 5:4, NIV) in a recent “Seed of Encouragement” sent to me by my friend Trelenza Hogan. We both worship with the Memorial Road Church of Christ here in Oklahoma City, and occasionally she sends out short, inspirational thoughts through Facebook Messenger. The “Seed” that included these words of Jesus to Simon encouraged us to trust God, even when he asks us to “put out into deep water.”
Trelenza also sent a link to a YouTube video of the song “Something ‘Bout Sunday Morning.” She said it was one of the songs she sang when she visited her great-grandparents’ congregation in Fort Smith, Ark.
She inspired me to do a little searching on YouTube. I found this wonderful version from a few years ago by the Committed A Cappella Chorus. Participants in The Acappella Company’s Worship Leader Institute (which we’ve covered before) are among the singers here. I recognize several, including Josh Kasinger, now worship and executive minister for the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Little Rock, Ark.
