Charlottetowne Hops FC Defeats Hickory FC 4-2

Hickory FC suffered its first club home defeat 4-2 at the hands of Charlottetowne Hops FC in front of a midweek crowd of over 2400 at the Helen & Leonard Moretz Stadium at Lenoir-Rhyne University.
Charlottetowne opened the scoring in the 10th minute when Drew Hansen scored off a free kick taken by Gabriel Slemer Lopes. The Hops followed up with a second goal in the 36th minute on a breakaway goal by Slemer Lopes.
Hickory FC managed to equalize with two goals before the half. Carles Montoliu scored in the 37th minute on a driven shot over the Hops goalkeeper. In the 44th minute, Diego Fernandez scored an acrobatic goal after a series of headers following a Hickory FC throw-in.
Despite a strong showing from Hickory FC, Charlottetown posted two additional goals in the second half to take the win. Tyler Trimnal scored in the 68th minute with a strong shot from 10 yards out in the center of the field. William Cardona followed in the 74th minute with a shot from the corner of the six-yard box.
After the loss, Hickory FC fell to 5-1-1 in conference play, but continues to hold a spot near the top of the table with 16 points. Charlottetowne Hops FC now sit at 13 points with a record of 4-1-2.
