Man arrested after entering Queen Elizabeth University Hospital armed with a crossbow

Police officers leaving Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow, Scotland, after a man entered the hospital with a crossbow at 6.30am this morning. May 23, 2025. Firearms incident officers were sent to the scene and hospital was sealed off where a 29-year-old man was arrested.
The atrium to the hospital was closed and road around the hospital were closed for a time. (Note: No permission sought from NHS Glasgow and Clyde to be outside hospital)

A man has been arrested after entering a hospital with a crossbow.
Emergency services were called to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow at 6.30am today.
Firearms police arrested a 29-year-old man, and there were no injuries.
Inspector Alyssa Fullelove-McCann said: ‘I’m aware this incident will be concerning but I’d like to provide reassurance that it is being treated as isolated and there is no ongoing risk to the public.’
The building’s atrium had been closed and traffic around the hospital was temporarily diverted.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said: ‘We can confirm we supported police with an incident in the atrium of the QEUH this morning.
‘The atrium was closed for a short time while this was dealt with, and traffic around the hospital was temporarily diverted.

‘There was no disruption to any of our services and the hospital is now open as normal.
