Netflix Renews Hit TV Show Less Than 2 Weeks After Debut

Netflix has renewed Untamed for Season 2. The early renewal comes less than two weeks after its debut.
“I am absolutely thrilled that we get the chance to bring another season of Untamed to life,” star Eric Bana said in a statement. “The response to Season 1 has been a testament to the incredible effort by our crew to deliver something truly unique. I can’t wait to take Kyle on his next journey. Massive thanks to Netflix, John Wells Productions, Warner Bros. Television and our fans.”
What is the hit Netflix show Untamed about?
A character-driven mystery-thriller that follows Kyle Turner (Bana), a special agent for the National Parks Service who works to enforce human law in nature’s vast wilderness,” the official synopsis reads. “The investigation of a brutal death sends Inman on a collision course with the dark secrets within the park, and in his own past.”
Untamed’s cast includes Eric Bana, Sam Neill, Rosemarie DeWitt, Lily Santiago, and Wilson Bethel.
Bana told ComingSoon that working with Neill was a “dream come true.”
“I’ve always been a huge fan of Sam, and when we went to him for this part, I was so thrilled when he was able to come on board,” Bana told ComingSoon in an interview. “He’s charismatic. He’s funny. He has this incredible quality that all the great actors do that I’ve worked with, which is, there’s this kind of effortless quality on screen and to work with. Just very collaborative.”
Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith created Untamed. After solving the murder in Season 1, Turner leaves Yosemite National Park and hits the road. Season 2 will feature Turner taking on a new case at a different park.
“Our theme has been that this park is our main character, this park is sort of alive,” Elle said to Tudum. “We do want to maintain that thread. Whichever park we choose will be a character and it will kind of play a role in Turner’s emotional frame of mind.”
Released on July 17, Untamed debuted as the top show in the global Top 10 English TV list.
