Fulop To Announce Plan To 'Root Out Corruption' In NJ On Monday
NEW JERSEY — Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop, who's running for governor in 2025, has released policy papers on various issues in the Garden State, from transportation to childcare. But now, he says he's going to dig through the mud to "root out" political corruption. On Friday, Fulop's campaign said that this coming Monday, "Democratic candidate for Governor Steven Fulop will announce a comprehensive plan to reform state government and root out political corruption in New Jersey." The latest of his #fixit strategies will be titled “Strengthening Our Democracy and Meaningful Government Reform.”The campaign on Friday cited the the recent indictments of two major New Jersey power brokers — U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez and longtime South Jersey political boss George Norcross.Of course, the Garden State has been soiled for decades with other scandals, from the 2009 "Operation Bid Rig" New Jersey political sting to the murder of a state Senator's son by a political consultant in 2014.The cynics would argue that Fulop has been accused of questionable politics himself, from allegations that he downplayed crime in Jersey City through the years, to recent accusations about a marijuana dispensary planned for Hoboken. (Fulop has denied influencing the dispensary approval process.)Fulop also earned a reputation for standing up to party bosses early in his political career. NJ.com released a scorecard back in 2017 on how well he'd done so as mayor in that regard.Fulop will release his anti-corruption plan to the public on Monday, June 24, the campaign said. The article Fulop To Announce Plan To 'Root Out Corruption' In NJ On Monday appeared first on Hoboken, NJ Patch.
