10 Worst ‘Love Is Blind’ Breakups, Ranked

Ramses Prashad; Natalie and Shayne of 'Love Is Blind'
Netflix
Apparently, love doesn’t always have 20/20 vision.
While it was tough to round up the 10 best Love Is Blind couples, it was far more difficult to rank the 10 worst breakups on the show. Not because of a lack of options — there were far too many breakups to choose from. But that’s the nature of an experimental show like Love Is Blind; there’s a lot to lose and a lot to gain, so things quickly get explosive.
Love, unfortunately, isn’t always blind, and some couples simply find that they aren’t as good of a match in the real world as they were in the cozy, clean pods. They discover the difficulties accompanying age gaps, temptations, and location tracking. But all of these tumultuous couples and resulting breakups only make us appreciate the show’s successes even more. So, without further ado, here are the worst Love Is Blind breakups, focusing only on the original U.S. franchise.
Jessica and Mark of 'Love Is Blind' Season 1
Netflix
10. Jessica and Mark (Season 1)
Our first age-gap couple, and to further break stereotypes, Jessica was the older one! Despite their 10-year age gap, Jessica and Mark decided to give things a go and got engaged. But from the get-go, Jessica frequently voiced concerns about their age gap, and it became clear that she wasn’t as physically attracted to Mark as he was to her. She went as far as to compare him unfavorably to Barnett, her initial match in the pods.
Jessica’s behavior turned heads — viewers will never forget when she fed her dog wine during dinner — but Mark remained patient and committed. You’d almost think he was 34 years old, and she was 24 years old, rather than the other way around. Even on their wedding day, Mark was ready to say “I do,” but Jessica ultimately said “I don’t,” leaving him at the altar. At the reunion, Jessica apologized for leading him on and acknowledged she had still been hung up on Barnett. Maybe they walked so fellow age-gap relationship Milton and Lydia could run!
Natalie Lee, Shayne Jansen of 'Love Is Blind' Season 2
Adrian S. Burrows Sr. / Netflix
9. Natalie and Shayne (Season 2)
Everyone has that one relationship that is way too passionate, where you’re literally either screaming at each other or screaming into a pillow… if you get what we mean. Natalie and Shayne captured that dynamic in their turbulent yet intimate relationship. Initially part of a love triangle with Shaina, the pair left the pods engaged. Thank goodness for that. Imagine trying to come up with a couple name for Shayne and Shaina.
After leaving the pods, the couple’s differences started to cause tension. Natalie often joked with Shayne, but he sometimes took her humor as criticism. In general, their personalities often clashed, as Natalie was more serious and reserved, while Shayne was outgoing and playful. But the pivotal moment occurred the night before the wedding when a major argument erupted between them. Apparently, harsh words were exchanged, especially by Shayne. This led Natalie to say “I don’t” at the altar, and she explained that the argument from the night before raised too many doubts about their compatibility. Shayne was visibly shocked as he had already said, “I do.”
During the reunion special, Natalie revealed that they had attempted to reconcile after the wedding but ultimately decided to go their separate ways due to ongoing issues. Don’t worry, Shayne ended up searching for love on Netflix’s Perfect Match.
Giannina and Damian of 'Love Is Blind' Season 1
Netflix
8. Giannina and Damian (Season 1)
These two are particularly interesting, given how they’ve both managed to keep things in the reality TV family with their new relationships. But let’s start at the beginning. Giannina and Damian were a spontaneous and passionate couple, with Damian proposing in a dramatic gesture by giving her the bow tie he was wearing instead of a traditional ring. But in the real world, the couple struggled, as Giannina was known for her outspoken and fiery personality, which sometimes clashed with Damian’s more reserved demeanor.
One of their most notable arguments started with Damian’s commitment to Giannina and turned into his *ahem* skill set in the bedroom. “You know how you tell me this is the best sex of your life? Have you ever noticed that I don’t return the compliment?” Giannina dared to say. On their wedding day, Giannina said, “I do,” but Damian decided to say, “I don’t.” He didn’t feel that they were ready for marriage. This was followed by a truly Brontë-esque moment, where Giannina ran out of the venue, tripped on her dress, and sprinted barefoot in the forest.
Shockingly, after the show, Giannina and Damian rekindled their relationship and began dating again. They successfully parted ways two years post-show. Damian went on to date Too Hot to Handle star Francesca Farago, and Giannina is engaged to The Bachelorette alum Blake Horstmann. The pair welcomed a son, Heath, and recently got engaged.

7. Micah and Paul (Season 4)
We can’t help but love the “extroverted woman with an introverted man” dynamic, and it was encompassed perfectly in Micah and Paul. Viewers couldn’t help but notice that Micah was a total twin of his mom, both in personality and appearance — quite the Freudian twist. The couple made it to the altar, but Micah, sensing uncertainty, chose to have Paul answer first. He ultimately said “no.” He explained that while he loved Micah, he didn’t see a future where they were married. Micah left the room in tears, followed by her bridesmaids, and Paul tried to go speak to her. Paul later shared that he couldn’t envision her as a nurturing partner, which made him doubt their compatibility for marriage.
After the show, they attempted to rekindle their relationship for a few months, but they found it to be difficult given the distance between them and unresolved issues from the show. They eventually broke up for good a few months after filming ended.
Marshall Glaze, Jackelina Bonds in 'Love Is Blind' Season 4

6. Jackie and Marshall (Season 4)
Another breakup from Season 4, but this one didn’t even make it to the altar! Things started to go downhill for Jackie and Marshall in Mexico, when Jackie expressed doubts about her readiness for marriage with Marshall. She felt they were not a good match. She questioned whether he was “man enough” for her. She explained that she usually went for edgier guys who were more aggressive in the relationship. But the real kicker was when Josh, another contestant from the pods, re-entered the picture, which led to a love triangle.
Viewers audibly gasped when Jackie was seen meeting Josh at a coffee shop when she should’ve been at the dress fitting. Marshall was informed by another contestant as he tried on suits for the wedding. The following scene showed Jackie and Marshall breaking up, which caused both viewers and Marshall to be frustrated that she had first secured things with Josh. Jackie has since claimed that the timeline shown was edited, and she had already ended things with Marshall before her meeting with Josh, despite referring to him as her “fiancé.”
Jackie and Josh immediately entered a relationship, which ended a year later.
Diamond and Carlton of 'Love Is Blind' Season 1
Netflix
5. Diamond and Carlton (Season 1)
This couple didn’t even make it out of Mexico — so much for what happens in Mexico stays in Mexico! Diamond and Carlton were happily loved up and engaged, until he decided to reveal his bisexuality to Diamond, and the fact that he had previously dated both men and women. He explained that he’d feared judgment and rejection if he’d revealed it earlier. Diamond was visibly caught off-guard, and the two had a tense discussion about trust and honesty.
Things truly heated up the next day in the pool, when the two argued intensely. Diamond felt blindsided by Carlton’s timing and lack of transparency, while Carlton felt hurt and defensive, believing he was being judged for his past. Ultimately, Carlton insulted her, and Diamond threw a drink at his face. The relationship ended right there and then. Carlton later apologized for his behavior at the reunion and acknowledged that he had reacted out of hurt and defensiveness. Diamond accepted his apology.
Stephen Richardson, Monica Davis of 'Love Is Blind' Season 7
Courtesy of Netflix
4. Stephen and Monica (Season 7)
It’s hard to pick out of the many, many breakups we witnessed during Season 7 of Love Is Blind. But given that this breakup had us picking our jaw up off the floor, it definitely deserves a spot in the Hall of Fame. Monica and Stephen certainly weren’t the strongest couple in the group, but they seemed to be trying to find their groove. Most of their squabbles had revolved around the giving and receiving of flowers.
That was until their infamous confrontation where Monica called out Stephen for emotionally cheating on her while claiming to be at a sleep study. Stephen confirmed that he was at a sleep study, so he was emotionally cheating while at the experiment, and not lying about his whereabouts — just for the record. Stephen had been sexting a woman he knew off Instagram. Apparently, certain kinks were discussed. The texts were supposedly deleted, and Stephen (conveniently) can’t recall what was said.
But what truly makes this Love Is Blind breakup stand out is that Monica asked him to immediately Venmo her the money he owed — and he did! It was a brilliant power move that undoubtedly inspired women across the globe.
Cole Barnett and Zanab Jeffrey of 'Love Is Blind' Season 3
Sara Mally / Netflix
3. Zanab and Cole (Season 3)
Once upon a time, couples on Love Is Blind only broke up at the altar, rather than in the weeks leading up to their wedding. This was probably the scene that made them remove that clause in contracts.
Zanab and Cole struggled to transfer from the pods to real life. Cole was playful and blunt, while Zanab was more serious and sensitive. For example, Cole once mentioned that he was attracted to Colleen, one of his previous matches from the pods. Things heated up when he said as much to Colleen herself, causing friction both in his relationship and Colleen’s.
Every Love Is Blind fan will cringe at the term “Cuties.” No, this wasn’t a pet name, it was a reference to those adorable little oranges that get stuffed into stockings by almond moms. Zanab claimed that Cole made a comment about her eating habits, implying she should watch her weight. This played a large role in Zanab’s choice to call out Cole at the altar, where she delivered a powerful speech about how he belittled her and damaged her confidence. Cole was left stunned and emotional. He denied many of her accusations. It’ll come as no surprise that they did not reconcile.
Jeramey, Laura of 'Love Is Blind' Season 6
Courtesy of Netflix
2. Laura and Jeramey (Season 6)
The breakup that led people across the globe to disable Find My Friends. Initially, Jeramey and Laura seemed compatible, but tensions rose after an argument about a private joke went public. The situation worsened when Sarah Ann sent Jeramey a message expressing interest if things didn’t work out with Laura. Although Jeramey claimed he only “liked” the message as an acknowledgment, his later actions fueled doubts for both Laura and viewers.
The breaking point came when Jeramey stayed out until 5 a.m. after reportedly meeting Sarah Ann at a bar. Laura accused him of lying about his whereabouts, especially after checking his location and finding discrepancies. The best part was that Jeramey offered to share his location and seemed to purposefully leave his phone in the bar to avoid Laura knowing he went home with Sarah Ann. But his Apple Watch gave him away — the melodrama!
Laura left and they only spoke again at a group mixer, where she once again called out his actions and attempts at contact. She ended things and then watched Jeramey immediately ride a jet-ski with Sarah Ann. Ouch. At the reunion, it was revealed that Jeramey and Sarah Ann continued their relationship and moved in together, although the pair have since broken up.
Marissa George and Ramses Prashad of 'Love Is Blind' Season 7
Netflix
1. Marissa and Ramses (Season 7)
We have no hesitation in granting the top position to Marissa and Ramses, and we honestly can’t think of our girlie without tearing up. Further reveals at the reunion and in subsequent interviews haven’t helped the matter, and we want to stomp over to Ramses and demand answers.
Marissa and Ramses initially seemed like one of the strongest couples of Season 7, although the bar was pretty low after cheating scandals, baby reveals, and the pro/con list — yikes. But how the mighty fell, and they fell quickly. The first stumble happened when Ramses clearly stated his distaste for the military, a fair sentiment, except he was aware of Marissa’s pride in her time in the Navy, and he shared this to her military friends. Then he complained about having to wear condoms as she was reluctant to go on birth control due to past experiences. Despite all of this, we were still taken aback when he suddenly ended things in the penultimate episode.
Watching Marissa, a strong, powerful woman, almost beg him to rethink his decision, was a painful experience too many of us could relate to. This breakup was made all the worse by the scene that followed, where we saw Marissa break down sobbing with her mom. Excuse me, we need to curl up into a ball and cry some more.
