Severe Storms, Tornado Risk Wednesday In Eastern PA: Latest Timeline

There is a risk of severe weather Wednesday across the region, including in Eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey.The National Weather Service warns that incoming thunderstorms could be severe, and pose the risk of high winds and even tornadoes. The storms are expected to begin in the afternoon and continue through the evening.Damaging winds with gusts as high as 40 mph in the Philadelphia region could bring down trees and power lines. "Prepare for the potential for downed trees and power lines," the National Weather Service said in a Wednesday morning update.According to forecasters, thunderstorms are possible anytime between 1 p.m. and 1 a.m. "Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall," the NWS said. The chance of precipitation Wednesday is 100 percent, with new rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch expected.The storms clear out by Thursday, when partly sunny skies and highs in the low 50s are expected. It will remain windy Thursday, with gusts as high as 30 mph possible.Check back with Patch later in the day for any additional warnings issued by weather officials.We have multiple hazards to be aware of today -- strong winds will develop across DelMarVa and coastal NJ.
