Gwinnett County to Launch $5 Million Nonprofit Grant Program for Post-Pandemic Recovery

Starting on August 1, Gwinnett County will open the floodgates for its Nonprofit Capacity Building Grant applications, a program dedicated to financially bolstering nonprofits still reeling from the pandemic's punch. The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners has earmarked a cool $5 million from the American Rescue Plan Act to enable these community cornerstones to not just survive but to hopefully thrive and extend their influence in the county.
"I've witnessed firsthand the incredible impact of Gwinnett's nonprofits — they tackle critical needs and make a real difference in people's lives," Nicole Love Hendrickson, Gwinnett County Chairwoman, echoed in a recent announcement. The grant aims to quickly empower recipients to expand their reach and tighten their grip on the communities they serve. It's a targeted effort to bolster organizations grappling with food security, housing, health, and other essential services.
Nonprofits struggling under the pandemic's impact can lean on this grant for either capital or operational support. Capital support's meant to turn the dial on their physical operational capacity — vehicles, tech upgrades, and equipment. On the flip side, operational support is geared toward polishing the organization's inner workings, providing the know-how and tools necessary to grow into an even more effective outfit.
The application window opens August 1 and runs through August 30, more details on the GwinnettCounty.com.
