4-star PG Azavier Robinson breaks down recruitment, talks Butler, Xavier, Notre Dame, Marquette
Azavier Robinson is a top 20 point guard in the 2025 On3 150. The 6-foot-1 lead guard averaged 19.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.3 steals helping lead his Indianapolis (IN) Lawrence North High to a sectional championship and a 25-4 record this season. Robinson is playing his summer travel ball with the George Hill Elite program.
“I’m a two-way player, I can score and play defense,” Robinson told On3. “My offensive game is about getting downhill and creating fouls. Being a shot creator. I watch a lot of Mike Conley and Trae Young, smaller-type guards, and see how they find ways to contribute.”
On3 was able to catch up with four-star Azavier Robinson after a recent live viewing to talk about his recruitment.
“I have not gone on any official visits yet,” Robinson said. “I’m talking with Notre Dame, Butler, Marquette, and Xavier about possible upcoming visits.”
Robinson talks potential upcoming visits
BUTLER: “They’ve been really consistent in recruiting me. I’ve got a great relationship with the coaches. I’ve been over there multiple times, for multiple games. I’m familiar with their play style. Coach (Thad) Matta coached other Lawrence North alumni Mike Conley and Greg Oden.”
NOTRE DAME: “Their playstyle stands out to me. I’ve been there a lot of times since my freshman year. They were one of the first high-major programs to start recruiting me, definitely the first in-state. I have a good relationship with Coach (Micah) Shrewsberry, it’s one of the best relationships I have with a coach, I’ve known him for a while. He’s visited me a few times at my school and not to just watch me practice, but to just sit down with me and talk.”
XAVIER: “It means a lot that Coach (Sean) Miller would come to my first live-period game. He has wanted to come to a couple of my high school games, but our schedule and theirs kept getting mixed up. It was good to see him there, watching me play. They get up and down. They pick up on defense and play hard and aggressively. The Big East is guard-dominant, they play a lot like I do.”
MARQUETTE: “I have a good relationship with Marquette. Coach Shaka (Smart) has been consistent since the start of my recruitment. They’ve been to my school multiple times. They sat down and ate lunch with me and we just talked. They pick up 94 feet and play aggressively, and they get downhill and play fast. We’re building a good relationship.”
In Azavier Robinson’s words
“My recruitment is still 100 percent open,” Robinson said. “I have a timeframe in mind for when I’d like to commit, but I don’t want to say it yet.
“The main thing I’ll be looking for in a school is the relationships. I want to feel comfortable around my teammates and my coaches, so that would be the main thing. I’m most comfortable playing in a fast-paced system that picks up full-court on defense.”
