Steam breaks new record with 40 million concurrent users...

On the 4th of March 2024, the Steam platform reached a new record with over 34 million peak concurrent users. Over the months, this record has slowly crept up – and now almost exactly one year on, Steam has reached the milestone of 40 million concurrent users.
As mentioned, back in March of last year, Steam had its peak player count rise to 34 million for the first time. Then, just weeks later, the platform saw a spike with 36 million players online.
It would take a bit of time to beat this figure, however in late August Steam once again surpassed itself with 37 million concurrents. Finally, back in December, the platform reached new heights with 39 million concurrent users.

Be it due to the continued growth of the service over time, or the current influx of millions of Monster Hunter Wilds players, Steam has now reached the massive milestone of 40 million concurrent online users – 40,270,997 to be exact.
Of course, not all 40 million are actively playing a game at any one time, but the achievement is notable nonetheless.
With Valve breaking this latest barrier, it will be interesting to see how long it will take until Steam inevitably reaches 50 million concurrent players. It could be sooner than expected.
