Keith’s prediction for Florida’s full 2025 recruiting class: 1.0
A full class prediction for the Florida Gators wasn’t easy to produce.
Signing day is months away, official visit season is just getting started, some prospects want to see how teams play this fall and, of course, you have the NIL factor to consider — and that can add mystery to any recruitment. Then consider this: Florida has only five current commitments.
Yet despite the challenges of compiling a mock class right now, I gave it a go — and followed these ground rules.
— Current commits will be in the class prediction no matter what.— These are NOT RPM picks. Instead, it’s a combination of prospects I either have a feeling will end up at Florida or think the Gators have a real shot with in the end.
I have 21 players in this mock class, version 1.0. By comparison, Florida finished with 20 signees in the previous cycle.
Quarterback
— Tramell Jones (3-stars), Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin (FSU commit) – Look, Jones may very well stick with FSU. Let’s be clear about that. It’s certainly a possibility. But of the Gators’ three top QB targets, he’s probably the most realistic get at the moment. Jones visited Florida twice this spring and many in Gainesville think he will return for an official visit in June. If that trip doesn’t happen, FSU probably holds on. If he does official to Florida, then things get serious.
Running back
— Waltez Clark (4-stars) , Tampa (Fla.) Plant (Florida Gators commit) – Clark, a 4-star recruit, committed to the Gators last fall. He likely will officially visit UCF, but he seems to be fairly locked in with the Gators. His strong relationship with Florida running backs coach Jabbar Juluke its a big reason why.
— Chad Gasper (3-stars), Fulshear (Texas) Katy Jordan (Florida Gators commit) – Gasper committed to the Gators in May and will officially visit them this weekend. If there’s a threat out there Florida should worry about, we don’t know who it would be. With Gasper on board, the Gators are done at running back this class.
Wide receiver
— Josiah Abdullah (3-stars), College Park (Ga.) Woodward Academy (Florida Gators commit) – Abdullah, who committed to Florida in January, was re-offered by the new Alabama staff in May and an official visit with the Tide may not be out of the question. Arkansas, Kentucky and Georgia Tech also remain involved. But for now, Abdullah is on board with Florida.
— CJ Ingram (3-stars), Hawthorne (Fla.) — The Gators legacy (son of former Florida tight end Cornelius Ingram) has great size (6-foot-4) and athletic ability. Basically, he’s a freak. Florida seems like the team to beat, but perhaps keep an eye on Louisville, which may view him as a QB. Of note, Ingram is thinking about trying to play hoops in college, too.
— Vernell Brown (4-stars), Orlando (Fla.) Jones — Brown arguably is the Gators’ top receiver target — and if that’s the case we can see why. He’s a sensational prospect with no holes in his game. Right now, it seems like a Florida-FSU battle but the Gators have gained ground this spring and are trending in the right direction. His Florida official is June 14. In the end, it wouldn’t surprise us if he signs with the Gators.
— Donovan Olugbode (4-stars), Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy — The Gators love this prospect and seem to have made him a priority from a really solid receiver board. He’ll officially visit them June 14. Florida views Southern California and Washington as perhaps the two biggest threats but feels as though it has a legitimate shot with him. Missouri is another program to watch.
Tight end
— Tae’shaun Gelsey (3-stars), Jacksonville (Fla.) Riverside – Gelsey, whom Florida offered last week, will announce his college choice July 13 and it appears the Gators will be in the driver’s seat if they push this weekend during his official visit. Right now, we think the Gators will sign two tight ends and there’s a good chance Gelsey will be one of them.
— Micah Jones (3-stars), Madison Central (Miss.) – I’m not overly confident with this pick, but the Gators are in his lead group with LSU at the moment. The Florida tight ends board has lots of good prospects on it and official visit season will determine a good bit. Jones will be in Gainesville on Friday.
Offensive line
— OT Tavaris Dice (4-stars), Fairburn, Ga. Langston Hughes (Auburn commit) – This one is really tight. Yes, Dice is committed to Auburn but everyone we’ve talked to about his recruitment thinks Florida has a real chance to flip him. Time will tell, of course, but the Gators will do their best to win over Dice during his June 14 official. He sees the potential to play early at both schools.
— OT Ziyare Addison (4-stars), Riverview (Fla.) Sumner – Addison released a top nine last week, but we think Florida, FSU and Oregon might be three to track (for now anyway). He’ll have a busy month, then announce a decision in August. The Gators are a real contender, have gained some momentum in recent months and have one of his former teammates (safety Gregory Smith) already on the team.
— OT Taren Hedrick (3-stars), Community School Of Naples (Fla.) — Florida will host him for an official on June. So will the following schools: Ole Miss (May 31-June 2), Texas A&M (June 14-16), Purdue (June 21-23) and Kentucky (June 28-30). That both of Florida’s offensive line coaches have NFL experience could play a significant role in this recruitment.
Defensive line
— Jeramiah McCloud (3-stars), Havana (Fla.) Gadsden County (Florida Gators commit) – McCloud chose the Gators over LSU in May. He’s a Georgia native, so if the Bulldogs pushed that would be something to watch. He’ll be in Gainesville on Friday for his official.
— Jarquez Carter (3-stars), Newberry (Fla.) – There is lots of competition for Carter, who doesn’t plan on committing anywhere until after he officially visits Ohio State in the fall. But under first-year defensive line coach Gerald Chatman, the Gators can make some noise with a good official visit this weekend. More than anything, Carter wants to make sure he’d be a good system fit in Gainesville. If the Gators can convince him of that, they should have a great chance with him.
— Derry Norris (3-stars), Port Orange (Fla.) Spruce Creek – Filling a third spot on the defensive line wasn’t easy. The Gators are working to flip 4-star lineman Malik Autry from Auburn, but that just seems like a tall task even though many think they do have a chance. Meanwhile, Florida entered the chat with Norris during the past couple months and if they land an official visit that would be big. Miami is another program heavily involved.
Edge
— Jalen Wiggins (4-stars), Tallahassee (Fla.) Rickards (Florida Gators commit) – Wiggins committed to the Gators earlier this year and appear primed to keep him in the class. Florida was on Wiggins early in his recruitment and those relationships have paid dividends. That said, FSU and Notre Dame are a couple schools that don’t plan to go away. Florida wants a second edge. It was just difficult to put anyone on this list right now. Official visits could give the Gators a boost with others.
Linebacker
— Christian Gass (4-stars), Covington (Ga.) Eastside – Florida and Tennessee are recruiting Gass the hardest according to the Peach State prospect with programs such as Georgia, Kentucky and Southern California also in the mix. Gass seems to fit with Florida both on and off the field. The Gators are the On3 RPM favorites.
— Tavion Wallace (4-stars), Jesup (Ga.) Wayne County – FSU has been the favorite for awhile and is the team to beat entering his official visits. But Florida has made this a battle and we believe things have tightened at the top. Wallace grew up a Gators fan. And his dad is a die-hard Florida supporter. Will that be enough to get him on board? Probably not on its own. Wallace’s June 14 official is critical for the Gators.
Defensive back
— CB Ben Hanks (4-stars), Miami (Fla.) Washington — The Florida cornerback board is difficult to get a feel for. Obviously, 5-star DJ Pickett is the top target. But right now, the Gators are playing catchup for him. Hanks is a Florida legacy who could be leaning toward Miami. But he’ll officially visit the Gators on June 7 and we should learn a lot more following that trip. He claims Florida is in this more than people think.
— S/CB Kaylib Singleton (3-stars), Fleming Island (Fla.) — Florida seems to prefer the speedy Singleton at safety, but he told Gators Online that the coaches also think he’s capable of playing corner. He has the length to excel at either spot. Singleton will officially visit the Gators this weekend. I love where Florida sits at the moment.
—S Hylton Stubbs (4-stars), Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin (USC TROJANS commit) – Stubbs’ commitment to USC earlier this year came seemingly out of nowhere. But it apparently hasn’t fazed Florida. Optimism continues to run high in Gainesville and Stubbs will officially visit the Gators on June 14. He’d like to see them play well this fall. That might have to happen to flip him.
