Bradenton Beach Reopens To Residents, Business Owners: Officials
BRADENTON BEACH, FL — Bradenton Beach, which was 90 to 95 percent destroyed by the hurricane and was deemed a “catastrophic area” by the state’s CERT team, reopened to residents, homeowners and business owners Thursday at 8 a.m., city officials said in a news release.The only entry point is at the checkpoint before the bridge on Cortez Road West and 127th Street West.A red vehicle tag is required to enter the city, the news release said. Those without a red vehicle tag will be required to show a photo ID or utility or similar bill to prove residency. Once in Bradenton Beach, those entering may access any street or location that has been cleared by the Florida Department of Transportation. Parking is allowed on any side street or by pulling all the way up onto their property to ensure vehicles aren’t impeding the road. Those parking along Avenues A, B and C may only park on the Bayside (east side) of the road.No vehicles are allowed to park or be left unattended on or along Gulf Drive North and South.Any parked or unattended vehicles along Gulf Drive will be towed.Comfort stations opened in the lot at 101 Bridge Street. These stations offer laundry, showers and ADA-accessible bathrooms.The Manatee County Health Department Mobile Clinic is also stationed at Bridge Street and Gulf Drive South. The clinic offers basic medical care and evaluations, sutures, vaccinations, medication refills and more. It’s open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.Cleaning supplies and other items are needed as Bradenton Beach recovers, including contractor trash bags, shovels, brooms, rakes, batteries and portable chargers, buckets and storage tubs, hand carts and dollies, and bottled water, officials said. These items can be delivered to the Makers Market, 6650 Cortez Road W., or Anna Maria Oyster Bar, 6696 Cortez Road W.Residents can pick up these supplies at Anna Maria Oyster Bar at the Bridge Street Pier daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lunch will be available 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.The Manatee County Island Trolley is also operating along Gulf Drive to help pedestrians accessing the north and south ends of Bradenton Beach.The article Bradenton Beach Reopens To Residents, Business Owners: Officials appeared first on Bradenton, FL Patch.
