SMU-Louisville gametime, TV channel announced
The SMU Mustangs will take on the Louisville Cardinals at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN or ESPN2 on Oct. 5, it was announced on Monday. It’ll be the first ever ACC road game for the Mustangs, which comes a week after the Mustangs face the Florida State Seminoles in Dallas.
The SMU Mustangs rolled 66-42 over the TCU Horned Frogs Saturday in Gerald J. Ford Stadium. Louisville defeated Georgia Tech 31-19 in its third game of the 2024 season, but first ACC matchup.
“I am definitely proud of our football team today,” Louisville coach Jeff Brohm said. “It was a good team win. It took all four quarters and a lot of different things to pull off the victory. We were definitely tested in a back-and-forth game with a lot momentum swings. We hung in there like we were able to do at some points last year, play to the end, keep our confidence, keep our fight and not give in. We found a way to make more plays.
“The defense wasn’t perfect, but they made some big fourth down stops and, of course, the huge turnover. The special teams gave us the advantage that was the key. A huge, blocked punt for a touchdown really won the game and closed it for us. Then the offense couldn’t run the ball really well but made a few plays here and there. It was a tough conference game, and we found a way to win.”

The Cardinals will travel to Notre Dame for their first game on the road this season this week as they face the Fighting Irish. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m. CT and can be viewed on Peacock. The Mustangs host FSU at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday on the ACC Network.
“Our goal is to win every quarter. And we went 2-1 in the first quarter of our season,” SMU head coach Rhett Lashlee said Saturday. “We wanted to go 3-0, but we won the quarter. We’re 1-0 now in the second quarter. And that’s our goal. We’re just trying to break it up that way. I mean, don’t get me wrong, we want to win every week, but the grind that’s in front of us is real. But hey, we’re 3-1 and we’re starting an eight-game stretch in ACC and it looks like every week anybody can win in that league if you look at some of the conference games I’ve already been played. So we’re excited.”
