Route 37 ramp closed this weekend for bridge work
CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — The ramp that connects Route 37 West to I-295 North will be closed this weekend so the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) can replace another bridge.
The work, which is weather dependent, is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6, and end by 5 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 9, according to RIDOT.
During that time, drivers will be directed to remain on Route 37 until Natick Avenue, where they'll loop around to the eastbound side before getting onto I-295.
Those using the ramp from I-295 South will have to come to a full stop before merging onto Route 37, RIDOT added.

Over the course of the weekend, RIDOT will be conducting a rapid replacement of the bridge that carries the ramp over the Washington Secondary Bike Path, which will also be briefly detoured.
The work is part of the $85 million Cranston Canyon Project. RIDOT is repairing and replacing bridges along Route 37 and I-295 to improve safety and reduce congestion.
