NBA and Nascar announce both were hacked as 50 million-plus followers spammed with worrying crypto scam
THE NBA and Nascar both confirmed they were targeted by hackers this week.
Both leagues sent out messages to their millions of followers on X.

But the statements were part of a scam and not from them, it was confirmed.
Messages went out that they had launched their own crypto currency.
They were named $NBA coin and $NASCAR coin.
But Front Office Sports reported that both leagues confirmed they were hacked.
It’s unclear if and how many followers were direct victims of the scams.
And fans were left worried at how easily both league’s accounts were able to send messages.
“Everyone getting ‘hacked’ recently. It’s 2025 and no one’s capable of cyber security?” one said.
Another commented, “Hopefully people are getting smarter to avoid these obvious rugs.”
Both leagues generate millions and millions of dollars in revenue.
In the NBA’s case – they surpassed $10 billion annually in revenue for the first time recently.
In 2023-24, the league’s annual revenue totaled up to 11.34 billion dollars.
The NBA will begin a new 11-year TV deal next season worth $76 billion.
Disney will remain a partner of the league with games across both ABC and ESPN.
They will include the NBA Finals every year.
NBC has also returned to the fold with NBA coverage.
They will show opening night as well conference finals series.
Part of NBC’s schedule will include games that are streaming only on Peacock.
And primetime games will be shown nationally from January – after the NFL regular-season ends.
Amazon Prime Video has come in to replace TNT Sports.
They will air primetime Friday doubleheaders and Thursday games once football season ends.
