Biden Likely To Bow Out Of 2024 Race, 44% Voters Say in New Poll

A series of recent surveys have revealed a shift in Democratic voter sentiment. This is in regards to President Joe Biden's candidacy for the 2024 election. The incumbent President is grappling with mounting pressured to consider withdrawing from the race, and the polls indicate an increasing uncertainty among Democrats about his viability as a candidate.According to a YouGov poll released on July 19, nearly 44 percent of respondents believe it is likely that President Biden will withdraw from the 2024 race. 15% of this figure consider his withdrawal “very likely” and 28 percent deem it “somewhat likely.” On the other hand, 24 percent view it as “not very likely,” and 14 percent believe it is “not likely at all,” with 18 percent unsure. While independent voters are more uncertain, Republicans predominantly expect Biden to step aside.Similar concerns can be seen in a CBS News/YouGov poll released on July 14. In it, 45 percent of Democratic registered voters believe Biden should not seek re-election. The shift is a major one from earlier in the year when 64 percent of Democratic voters supported his continued candidacy. The poll also shows a 10-point drop in Democratic support for Biden’s run. It went from 64 percent in February to 54 percent at present. The decline follows Biden's subpar performance in a recent debate.Related News | Kamala Harris Is A 'Spectacular Failure', Does Not Fit As Biden Replacement: ExpertsJoe Biden Regains Lead Over Donald Trump After Big Boy Presser: Latest PollDespite the concerns, the CBS News/YouGov poll reveals that 59 percent of Democrats still believe Biden has the mental and cognitive health required for the presidency.
