Rochester Hills Adams Road Future Corridor: Here Are The 5 Options
ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — Road officials are asking the public for help debating five plans for the future of Adams Road between Hamlin and Walton roads in Rochester Hills.Officials put together a study that aims to reduce congestion and improve safety along the road. Rochester Hills residents have asked for safety improvements along Adams Road, including 30 percent that said in 2019 the road should be widened.The $2 million study, which was funded through a federal Better Utilizing Investment to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant, was laid out at a meeting on June 17 at West Middle School in Rochester Hills.Officials are debating these five scenarios:Maintain Adams Road as a two-lane roadReconstruct Adams Road as a three-lane road with a continuous center left-turn laneRenovate Adams Road to create a three-lane road with continuous center left-turn lanes and roundabouts at major intersectionsTurn Adams Road into a five-lane road with two through lanes in each direction and a continuous center left-turn laneRebuild Adams Road as a four-lane boulevard with a center medianRochester Hills residents have until Aug. 1 to voice their opinion for the future of the corridor, and can do so here or at https://mksk.mysocialpinpoint.com/visioningadamsroad/adams-road-pel-home.The website also includes an interactive map, an ideas wall, project documents and information about the public workshops.The study will also look at the environmental impact of road improvements.
