Niedermeyer Steps Down As TCHS Football Coach After Recent Promotion
NORTHPORT, AL — Tuscaloosa County High football coach Brian Niedermeyer has announced he will step down for a position at a higher level, which comes just a few months after being promoted to the top job for the Wildcats. Click here to subscribe to our free daily newsletter and breaking news alerts.As Patch previously reported, Niedermeyer was the keystone of Miles Holcomb's staff when he was hired from IMG Academy after serving as its defensive coordinator for two seasons and following one year in the same position at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.Before his first year at TCHS, Niedermeyer was an assistant on Jeremy Pruitt's staff at Tennessee for three seasons, before Pruitt, Niedermeyer and most of the coaching staff were fired with cause after accusations surfaced regarding improper cash payouts to recruits during visits.Despite the tumultuous end to his time at Tennessee, Niedermeyer was named the National Recruiter of the Year by 247Sports and ESPN in 2019.Niedermeyer's connection to Pruitt was forged during his time as a defensive graduate assistant working with linebackers under Pruitt at both Georgia and Alabama.He previously was a defensive graduate assistant working with linebackers under head coach Jeremy Pruitt at Georgia and Alabama.
