I tried and ranked all of Burger King's chicken wraps. The spicy wrap was a flavorful, low-calorie option.

Burger King's lineup of chicken wraps are some of the healthiest items on the menu.Erin McDowell/Business InsiderMcDonald's may relaunch its iconic snack wraps along with new McCrispy chicken tenders.Burger King and Wendy's have also introduced chicken wraps, responding to fast-food fan demand.Burger King offers chicken wraps in four flavors. I tried and ranked them all according to taste.Fast-food wraps are having a moment. While rumors continue to swirl that McDonald's is preparing to bring back its fan-favorite snack wraps, multiple other fast-food chains have gotten in on the craze. In 2023, Burger King launched a new line of chicken wraps to compete with Wendy's, which began selling its own in March of that year. KFC and Chick-fil-A also sell their own chicken wraps. At the time, it was thought that the chains were attempting to win over customers who yearned for the McDonald's snack wraps.Introduced in 2006, the McDonald's snack wrap consisted of either crispy or grilled white-meat chicken breast, shredded cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, lettuce, and a choice of ranch, honey mustard, or salsa, wrapped in a soft tortilla. The wraps began to be phased out in 2015, much to fans' dismay. In 2020, a petition to bring back McDonald's snack wraps was launched, garnering over 18,000 signatures. Now, outlets like Food & Wine and Delish are reporting that McDonald's may be prepping to relaunch the iconic snack wrap in anticipation of a new chicken tender rollout, the McCrispy chicken tender."Today, the size of the company's chicken business is on par with beef, as the company continues to aggressively expand through billion-dollar equities including McNuggets, McChicken, McCrispy, and McSpicy," the company said in a statement in December."This includes plans to offer McCrispy in nearly all markets around the world by the end of 2025 and to expand McCrispy into wraps and tenders," the statement continued.Until McDonald's snack wraps are officially back, there are some alternatives. Enter Burger King's Royal Crispy Wraps, which come in four different flavor options. All relatively low-calorie — at least compared to some of the chain's burgers — and inexpensive, the wraps have earned a permanent spot on Burger King menus. Here's every kind of Burger King chicken wrap, ranked from worst to best. The most basic chicken wrap landed at the bottom for me.The classic Royal Crispy Wrap from Burger King ended up last on my ranking.Erin McDowell/Business InsiderI enjoyed all of Burger King's chicken wraps, but one had to come in last. My least favorite of the four wraps I tried was Burger King's classic Royal Crispy Wrap.It cost $3.89 from my local Burger King in Brooklyn, New York, and was 310 calories. The classic wrap comes with a large chicken tender, lettuce, tomato, and Royal sauce in a white tortilla. The chicken tender inside the wrap was crispy.Erin McDowell/Business InsiderBurger King's Royal sauce is somewhat of a mystery but is mayonnaise-based with a slight kick of Thousand-Island-esque flavor.I thought the chicken tender inside the wrap was perfectly crispy and I liked the special sauce. There was an ideal amount of sauce inside the wrap.Erin McDowell/Business InsiderHowever, I thought the lettuce could have been a touch fresher — it looked and tasted a little limp. This was only my experience with the first wrap I tried, though.Next up in the ranking was the honey-mustard chicken wrap. The honey-mustard chicken wrap was the lowest-calorie option.Erin McDowell/Business InsiderIt cost $3.89 from my local Burger King in Brooklyn, New York, and was 290 calories, making it the lowest-calorie wrap in the lineup. The wrap comes with the same white meat breast fillet, tomato, lettuce, and honey-mustard sauce. The wrap came with all the same ingredients as the classic but with honey-mustard instead of Royal sauce.Erin McDowell/Business InsiderAll of the ingredients were nicely enclosed in the tortilla.I thought the honey mustard added a lot of flavor. The honey-mustard wrap surprised me with how flavorful it was.Erin McDowell/Business InsiderI was most impressed that despite having more flavor than the classic wrap, it was lower in calories. I often associate something being lower in calories with being lower in flavor, but this wrap proved otherwise. The wrap was light but had a lot of flavor from the crispy chicken and slightly tart honey mustard. Whether I was trying to eat in a calorie deficit or simply wanted to add a lower-calorie snack option to my meal, I thought this wrap was a decent option. My second-favorite wrap in the lineup was the Chicken Philly Royal Crispy Wrap. The Chicken Philly Royal Crispy Wrap is the latest wrap added to the menu.Erin McDowell/Business InsiderThe Chicken Philly Royal Crispy Wrap was added to Burger King menus in May.It cost $3.89 from my local Burger King in Brooklyn, New York, and was 360 calories. The wrap comes with chicken, Royal sauce, Swiss cheese, and flame-grilled peppers and onions in a tortilla. The Chicken Philly wrap comes with peppers and onions.Erin McDowell/Business InsiderThe cheese was softly melted inside the tortilla, and I could smell the peppers and onions wafting from inside when I opened up the wrap.I thought this wrap had a comforting flavor profile and was pretty filling.I thought the peppers and onions added a lot of flavor.Erin McDowell/Business InsiderThe cheese was gooey and coated every inch of the crispy chicken tender, while the peppers and onions added a lot of flavor. While it probably wouldn't be enough to satisfy me for a whole meal, I also thought this wrap was pretty filling due to the cheese and sautéed peppers and onions. My favorite wrap was one I've had before: the Fiery Royal Crispy Wrap. The Fiery Royal Crispy Wrap was my favorite in the chicken wrap lineup.Erin McDowell/Business InsiderIt cost $3.89 from my local Burger King in Brooklyn, New York, and was 390 calories, making it the highest-calorie option. The wrap comes with the same ingredients as the classic and the honey-mustard wraps but with both triple-pepper fiery glaze and Royal sauce. The wrap had a large slice of tomato and two kinds of sauces.Erin McDowell/Business InsiderI've ordered this wrap many times before as a lower-calorie alternative to the chain's Fiery Royal Crispy chicken sandwich, which has 760 calories. I thought the glaze was genuinely spicy, which added a ton of flavor. The pepper glaze added a delicious spicy flavor to the wrap.Erin McDowell/Business InsiderThe spiciness of the glaze, however, was balanced out by the fresh vegetables and the Royal sauce. This wrap was the most flavorful by far. It would easily satisfy my cravings for a spicy chicken sandwich while remaining lower in calories. My only critique was that I thought this wrap had just a touch too much tomato. It could have been cut a bit smaller so as not to overpower the other ingredients.Overall, though I was impressed by every Burger King chicken wrap and thought they were all tasty, lower-calorie menu options.Read the original article on Business Insider
