J.C. Jackson suspended for violating NFL personal conduct policy

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, free agent cornerback J.C. Jackson has been suspended for the first game of the 2024 season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. Schefter provided further details on Jackson’s suspension.
“He is eligible to sign and participate in all preseason activities,” Schefter wrote. “His suspension will take effect as of the roster reduction to 53 players.”

After beginning the 2023 campaign on the Los Angeles Chargers, Jackson was traded to the New England Patriots in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round pick. Jackson made eight appearances and six starts for the Patriots, tallying 25 tackles and six passes defended.
On Dec. 19, the Patriots placed Jackson on the reserve/non-football illness list. He was released on March 1, 2024. In September 2023, an arrest warrant was put out for Jackson in Massachusetts after he failed to appear in court for a probation violation hearing, which stemmed from a criminal speeding arrest in 2021.

The arrest warrant wasn’t Jackson’s first issue with law enforcement. In 2022, Jackson was arrested for a “non-violent family issue.” In 2015, Jackson was arrested and charged with three counts of home invasion with a deadly weapon and one count of burglary of an occupied dwelling. However, he was later found not guilty of all three charges.
In six seasons in the NFL, Jackson has amassed 77 appearances and 52 starts. He has notched 201 tackles, 26 interceptions, 64 passes defended, three fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.
For his efforts in the 2021 campaign, he was named a Second-Team All-Pro and was a Pro Bowl selection. In his rookie season, Jackson won the Super Bowl with the New England Patriots.
Jayden Daniels, Malik Nabers receive NFL gambling policy training
After the 2024 NFL Draft, Jayden Daniels and Malik Nabers made a $10,000 bet on who will win the 2024 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. The pair called the wager off shortly after but the NFL wasn’t willing to take any risks.
According to Mark Maske of the Washington Post, NFL executive vice president of communications Jeff Miller said that Daniels and Nabers received “multiple education training sessions” on the league’s gambling policy.
“As you know, they rescinded that bet. The league addressed the matter directly with the NFL Players Association, with the two teams and with the two players to ensure that they understood the policy,” Miller said. “They received multiple education training sessions since that time. And… as a result of all the work that went into it, I think we’re comfortable with the resolution.”
