Elon Musk will move businesses to Texas after California passes laws protecting LGBTQ+ students
Following the signing of a California bill that prohibits schools from forcibly outing trans kids to their parents, transphobic billionaire Elon Musk announced on his social media platform X that his aeronautics company SpaceX, and X itself, will move their headquarters from California to Texas.
“This is the final straw,” Musk wrote in an X post on Tuesday. “Because of this law and the many others that preceded it, attacking both families and companies, SpaceX will now move its HQ from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas.”

Elon Musk threatened to sue an anti-hate speech group. Its CEO is still blasting Musk’s bigotry.
“I’ve never seen a CEO of any company resent their customers as much as Elon Musk resents his customers.”

“I did make it clear to Governor Newsom about a year ago that laws of this nature would force families and companies to leave California to protect their children,” he added in a follow-up post.

The bill that Musk referenced, known as Assembly Bill 1955 or the SAFETY Act, prohibits school districts from implementing policies requiring faculty to disclose a student’s gender identity or sexual orientation to their parents.
In a statement, the representative who proposed the bill, state Rep. Chris Ward (D), announced that he introduced the legislation amid “politically motivated” attacks on the dignity of LGBTQ+ youth in California.
“While some school districts have adopted policies to forcibly out students, the SAFETY Act ensures that discussions about gender identity remain a private matter within the family. As a parent, I urge all parents to talk to their children, listen to them, and love them unconditionally for who they are,” he said.
The bill was signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) yesterday and will protect LGBTQ+ students across the state. This bill makes California the first state to protect students from forced outing.
Musk is no stranger to controversy, especially in recent months. Earlier this year, a group of former SpaceX employees accused the billionaire of promoting a workplace that encouraged sexual harassment and bigotry, according to a lawsuit involving said employees.
As examples of Musk’s encouragement of bigotry, the employees pointed to his infamous “pronouns suck” post, and another that implied that Pride Month is equivalent to a natural disaster.

LGBTQ Nation reached out to both SpaceX and X for comment regarding Musk’s statements. However, neither responded before the publication of this article. This article will be updated if they do respond.
