Americans to get up to $5k from $19.5m privacy settlement – only one piece of info needed to get cash

AMERICANS are set to get payments of up to $5,000 from a $19.5 million privacy settlement – and only one piece of information is needed to get cash.
The money is being handed out by a company called Wells Fargo to settle claims against it in a class action lawsuit.

Plaintiffs in the case claim that The Credit Wholesale Company violated California‘s privacy laws.
The Credit Wholesale Company is a sales organization that sells credit card processing equipment and services on behalf of Wells Fargo and Priority Technology Holdings.
They say the company recorded telephone calls without getting consent.
Wells Fargo is not admitting any wrong doing through the lawsuit – choosing instead to settle with financial payments to those affected.
The settlement payout will benefit anyone who had one or more calls from The Credit Wholesale Company in California between October 22, 2014 and November 17, 2023.
Plaintiffs say that the company’s practices violated California’s Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA).
This law says businesses must receive consent – or give warning – before recording a phone call.
The exact figure each plaintiff receives will depend on the number of claims submitted through the lawsuit.
It is estimated that plaintiffs will receive around $86 per call, but the figure could be as high as $5,000.
The final approval hearing for the case is set for May 20.
And the key date to remember is April 11, because this is the deadline for submitting a valid claim form.
Claimants only need to provide the phone number that received the calls.
Meanwhile, Americans could also cash in from a one-time payment in a $1.74 million phone recording settlement.
You don’t even need any proof to cash in on the fund as long as you had one more calls with an Intoxalock sales rep between May 18, 2021 and February 8, 2022.
The company allegedly recorded telephone calls without getting consent.
