South Carolina’s preseason poll ranking over the past decade and how they fared in each year
On Friday, it was announced that South Carolina has been picked to finish 13th in this year’s SEC preseason poll.
With the addition of Texas and Oklahoma, the conference now has 16 teams. This also means that the conference no longer has divisions. Below, is how South Carolina fared over the past decade when the picks were based on East and West. I added in the calculations as far as where that would’ve put the Gamecocks overall in the SEC when they had 14 teams.
Over the past ten seasons, South Carolina has achieved better than their prediction four times while doing worse five times. They have gone as predicted just once in that span.
