‘Get to midfield and we’re good’: Ole Miss goes fast. Caden Davis has no time to waste.
Ole Miss has one of the fastest and most explosive offenses in college football.
Even more, the reputation for now-fifth-year Rebel head coach Lane Kiffin is of a high-scoring risk-taker and fourth-down-gambler.
Point is, Ole Miss is trying to score as many points as quickly as possible. Star kicker Caden Davis, then, has little sideline time to waste.
“Usually, with how fast our offense moves, when we get the ball, I’ll start doing a little bit of stretching or get down in the net,” said Davis, the next guest on the Ole Miss Spirit’s ‘Ivey League’ podcast, releasing Monday. “When we get down the field, I’m really getting locked-in. Around midfield, that’s when I’m really starting to hit some balls in the net.”
The ‘Ivey League’ is powered by RiverLand Roofing and hosted by Davis’ Ole Miss teammate, Jared Ivey. Ivey is a third-year starting defensive lineman for the Rebels after transferring from Georgia Tech. He was one of Ole Miss’ three player representatives as SEC Media Days in Dallas, Texas, this week.

Ole Miss was ranked by league media as the No. 4 team in the conference entering the season.
The Rebels, who won a program-record 11 games last season, open against Furman August 31.
“I always joke around with the specialists, too,” Davis continued. “We’re in the red zone and we get a holding call? Automatic field goal.
“Really the only time I’m chilling on the sideline is when the defense is out there. Every now and then you guys get a pick-six or something and I’ve just got to scramble out there and find my helmet.”
The Ole Miss offense needn’t go far to reach Davis’ range. He was 18-23 on field goals last season, including 2 for 4 from 50-plus. He hit a 56-yarder at Tulane, the best by a Rebel since 1988, and was named SEC Player of the Week.
Davis made 4-5 from 30-39 yards, 5 for 7 from 40-49 yards and 2 for 4 from 50-plus.
