The weather for Offshore fishing this weekend looks absolutely perfect and I just got word that theHUK big Fish Classic has 89 boats and a record 1.256 million $ purse. It should be a great weekend and I look forward to emceeing the event Tomorrow through Sunday. Scales are open at Talbot Street from four until nine tomorrow night four until nine Saturday night and then four until eight on Sunday. Hope to see you there!
Captain Alex Beane and the crew of the Boss Hogg had a great day Offshore with six white marlin releases, an yellowfin tuna and a bunch of mahi.
The crew of the wound tight with Captain Shawn Gibson had a great day of deep dropping with a limit of blue line tile fish, and some very nice golden tile fish. They also had some black belly Rose fish as a bonus.
Captain Nick Sampson, and his crew with MobSquad fishing had an insure beat down with bluefish,mackerel, sea bass and more.
anglers fishing on board lucky break with Captain Jason Mumford had a nice day on the bay with Flounder and croaker action.
Captain Monty Hawkins of the MorningStar didn’t find the mahi bite he hoped for, but he did make a nice day of it for his anglers.
Weather forecast of a gorgeous ocean was spot on. Captain's forecast of inshore mahi fishing busting loose?
Not so much!
Did catch 3 peanuts at our third stop - never saw another.

Sure was a nice day though. Bottom temps rising for sure too.
On our way off Avery & Asher deployed a mega block unit topped with a pyramid on our new barge at Ringmaster's Reef Group.
We soon found the three aforementioned mini-mahi, then saw a small cobia swim around the boat. It looked at numerous baits, took none.
From there?
Crickets.
Thought sure water quality would improve as we moved further off. But no, it became even more of an algae-ladden green the deeper we went.
Mercy.
Surface temps ranged from 80.3 to 82.2 - plenty warm for mahi.
At noon I threw in the towel on mahi and went reef fishing. Actually had a sign of bottom temps coming up too - certainly more life than we've been seeing, even on a jig - a very good sign. (Cold makes cbass lethargic - unlikely to bite anything, let alone chase a jig. A couple divers relayed a story to me years ago in one of these cold snaps - they'd been able to pick whatever sea bass they wanted from crevices; pick em like fruit off a tree! Now that's cold stunned..) Has to be 51 or better.
Our bottom cold snap seems about over. Mother nature's own 'fishery management' can sure be a son of a gun..
