Bubba Wallace reveals he hasn’t been on social media since Pocono race

In the last six weeks, Bubba Wallace has been one of the fastest drivers in the NASCAR Cup Series, and he might have a secret to that success. He hasn’t been on social media.
Bubba Wallace was on his way to a possible third straight top-5 finish before he was caught up in a wreck at Michigan. Since a DNF at New Hampshire, Wallace has two top-10s, two top-5s. He was P13 at Chicago and P26 at Michigan.

Today while speaking to the media, Wallace talked about avoiding social media. He hasn’t been on his profiles since Pocono. Is it a coincidence that he has been in the middle of this hot streak during that time as well?
“Oh it’s been so nice, it’s been so nice,” Wallace said, via Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “Just being caught up in other people’s lives and start comparing. Man I want … Just, besides from the toxic comments, you know, social media is just a lot at times. I do miss the photography side of it, you know, posting all that stuff, but it’s just way better for the mental. YouTube is my best friend.”

Bubba Wallace has not been shy about his personal demons. He can get in his own head, he has battled depression in the past, and this sounds like a good change for him.
Athletes hear enough from fans when they are competing. Wallace hears it from the crowd every week. While he has plenty of his own fans, he has garnered detractors as well. And you can’t deny the results, either.
Bubba Wallace battling for the playoffs
At one point, Bubba Wallace was 51 points under the cutline. He now sits one point outside of the playoffs. That is a major shift in about two months. With Daytona and Darlington left on the schedule before the postseason, there are only so many opportunities left.
Wallace is in a fight against Chris Buescher and Ross Chastain. Those are two drivers who are capable of winning either race in the last two weeks of the regular season, and they can definitely rattle off two top-5 finishes.
However, these are two tough races to get through. You have to make it to the finish line to start with if you have hopes of winning. And that is not guaranteed at Daytona or Darlington.
Bubba Wallace has to make the most of his opportunities in the next two weeks. There are going to be chances to make or break this season. Will he crack under pressure or rise above it and make the playoffs for the second year in a row?
