Cubs roster moves: Chris Flexen DFA'ed, Gavin Hollowell recalled

The Chicago Cubs made a pair of roster moves prior to their Tuesday game against the Milwaukee Brewers, designating pitcher Chris Flexen for assignment.
In a corresponding move, Gavin Hollowell was added to the team’s 40-man roster on Tuesday afternoon, according to a press release.
Flexen had gotten off to a staggering start with the Cubs, going 12 consecutive appearances without giving up an earned run. He had come back to Earth in recent outings, allowing at least one earned run in five consecutive appearances, including two on Monday night against the Brewers.
Overall, he has posted a 3.09 ERA in 43.2 innings with the Cubs this season, with a 5-1 record and one save to his credit.
Hollowell has made five appearances with the Cubs this season, with a 1.42 ERA and five strikeouts in 6.1 innings of work. He has had less success in Iowa however, with a 5.24 ERA in 20 appearances in Triple-A.
Colin Rea is scheduled to make the start for the Cubs Tuesday against the Brewers, with first pitch set for 6:40 p.m.
