Bristol Rhythm AFC Falls 4-0 Against Appalachian FC

Appalachian FC earned their third win of the season with a 4-0 home victory against Bristol Rhythm AFC. It was a performance where Appalachian FC’s control and fluidity proved to be the deciding factor, and they handed Bristol their third loss of the season out of four matches.
Saturday’s fixture between these two sides was their second meeting of the season, and Appalachian’s second victory against the Rhythm, successfully completing the double against the expansion side. It was a match where Appalachian’s experience shined bright, not allowing their opponent a single opportunity.
Their first goal in the 12th minute set the tone, which was followed by a Bristol own-goal six minutes later. Appalachian went on to score once more in the first half and concluded the match with a fourth goal in the 90th minute.
Credit must be given to the home side Appalachian FC who created goal scoring opportunities sometimes out of nothing, playing full of flair and confidence. Appalachian’s relentless press and domination of ball possession was what really divided the two teams. Suffocating the Bristol players any time the ball was given away, it was a controlled and routine performance from the home side from the kickoff.
The Rhythm put in a strong effort all night, and despite not getting the result they would have hoped for, 16-year-old Lucas Trool made his debut for the club. He was one of few bright spots for Bristol on the night. Goalkeeper Logan Cassel also made a handful of great saves, but again it wasn’t enough to get their desired result.
This was Bristol’s first game of their three-game away stretch as they will pay a visit to Charlottetown Hops FC on June 8th. The Rhythm will look to collect themselves from the loss and turn it around next week.
