The three ingredients you need are:
Shortcrust Pastry
Custard
Ground Nutmeg
I used the carton of fresh custard that you find in the chilled aisle of the supermarket but the longer life carton custard will work just as well too.
Use an 8cm pastry cutter to cut out 12 circles from the pastry.
If you don’t have a pastry cutter use something of a similar size, like a glass or cup, and cut around the edges with a knife.
Pop the pastry circles into a 12 hole muffin or cupcake tin.
Fill the pastry almost to the top with the custard.
Sprinkle a little nutmeg on the top of each one and then bake for 20 minutes.
When you remove the tarts from the oven you might find that the custard has expanded and spilled over onto the edges of the pastry.
Leave them to cool for a few minutes and it will contract back in.

½ tsp ground nutmeg

Instructions
Preheat the oven to 180c fan.
Use an 8cm round pastry cutter to cut out 12 circles from the shortcrust pastry.
If you don’t have a pastry cutter use anything round of approx 8cm like a glass and cut around the edges with a knife.
Press each of the pastry circles into a 12 hole muffin or cupcake tray.
Fill each with custard and top with a sprinkling of nutmeg.
Bake for 20 minutes.
The custard filling will expand a little during cooking and might spill up the top of the pastry. Allow them to cool for a few minutes and it will shrink back into the pastry.
Notes
