Fishing Report Coming From Nantucket Shoals

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-K38FRyM8Y&t=4s

Hit the vid for the Daily Catch at Sunset Marina!

Tonight's Daily Angle is brought to you from Yarmouth, MA as I prepare for day 2 of our 2024 Nantucket Shoals flounder fishing trip. We had an epic day of fishing with a limit of nice flounder with some true jumbos in the mix.  Zach Webb joined the double digit flounder club today with a beautiful 11.8 pound doormat, and then just a little while later Captain Kevin Twilley of the Fish Bound beat his personal best flounder with an absolute monster that was over 30" long and weighed in at 13.5 pounds.  We get to go at it again tomorrow and I'll bring you that report with pics in tomorrow's Daily Angle.

Back in Ocean City there were some big fish caught too like yellowfin tuna boxed by Captain Willie Zimmerman and the crew of RoShamBo.  The big yellowfin was bigger than a kid and weighed in at 150 pounds.

Captain Jason Mumford of Lucky Break Charters had a great day in the OC Inlet catching and releasing some nice rockfish and some tautog.

This angler got to catch a cobia while fishing with Captain Chase Eberle of Chasin' Tides Charters.

Captain Marc Spagnola showed his clients a good time and put them on some good shooting for cow nosed and southern rays.

Anglers fishing on the Morning Star with Captain Monty Hawkins found some good fishing over ocean structure today.

A mix of regulars and summer folk aboard today as we tied her loose early. Clearing the inlet we found the ocean lively, but not unpleasant after yesterday evening's wind. A bit of a roll and leftover chop from the south; was a nice enough day.
Stopped at Capt. Bobby's Reef yet again, this time for stedfast reef volunteer Sandra and Nicole to deploy four pyramids from Bear Materials. A cement plant, their donations of time and material--from Kinsley Construction up in York PA too, have made the bulk of our pyramid units so far. Then there's Gillis Gilkerson, and now Harkins Concrete just up the road starting to pitch in. These 4 piece molds are super simple to assemble - designed for a busy yardman to handle. We'll gladly expand the program if you know of other cement plants that wish to make a difference in water quality and fishing's future.
As of today we have 2,252 pyramids deployed - most at the Bass Grounds where our restoration efforts have been in earnest of late.
Prototype built in my front yard in late 2019 with the first few production molds made in 2020 to capture waste cement in industry - it's working.
Now we have a 50ft ex-Navy dive boat in Cambridge that the Reef Foundation is going to turn into a mini self-propelled barge that will carry 300+ (double?) pyramids at once. Need to rebuild one of its 6-53 Detroits first though.. (Oyyyy! Engine worries!) and deck it over - going to happen.

Ahhh.. Today's Fishing.
Dagone sea bass. Mark 30ft of fish and wish.
50 feet? No difference..
Aside a few nice flurries of action, we had to work for every single bite.
David's 'work' yielded a 4lb cbass that clencehed - if just - today's pool. Had some dandies..
Sea Bass Bob stuck with his favorite technique and climbed into double digits; had a nice grade of fish on the jig too.
Among the very best anglers I know, I'd have bet good money the fellow fishing near Bob would have been high hook or first to limit.
I'd have lost that wager too.
Badly.
Sometimes it's just your turn in the barrel.
I've cancelled Sunday & Monday to south winds. Looks like it'll pretty up after that..
Cheers
Monty
