Lisle Man Faces Gun Charges After Incident In Naperville

LISLE, IL — A Lisle man faces multiple felony charges after police say he had a stolen gun in his possession without a valid FOID card or a concealed carry license. Commander Ricky Krakow told Patch the arrest stemmed from "self-initiated proactive patrols by a police officer in the parking lot" of TopGolf in Naperville. Krakow said officers noticed a permit was improperly displayed on a Mercedes-Benz in the lot. When the officers got out of their squad car to get the vehicle identification number of the Mercedes, Krakow told Patch, they saw a gun "in plain view" in the car. After police saw the car leave the TopGolf parking lot, they initiated a traffic stop. The driver then pulled into the Whirlyball parking lot at 3103 Odyssey Ct. Krakow said officers recovered a gun that had been reported stolen out of Chicago during the arrest. Jihad Yousef Yamin, 23, of the 5700 block of College Road, was charged with three counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, driving with a revoked or suspended license and improper license plate display in connection with the Feb. 11 incident. Yamin was taken into custody just before 8 p.m. and was later granted pretrial release, according to DuPage County court and Naperville Police Department records. Yamin was among three people arrested on gun charges linked to patrols in the parking lot of TopGolf in the span of a month.
