Gators are ‘fighting’ for DL Floyd Boucard on daily basis
A familiar face for Florida defensive line coach Gerald Chatman returned to Gainesville on Tuesday, as Miami Central’s Floyd Boucard logged another unofficial visit.
Boucard, a native of Montreal, Canada, visited the Florida Gators in March and April as well. It was on March 9 when a scholarship offer was extended, so the relationship is only getting stronger.
“Man, it’s like every time it’s just a special moment. It’s my connection with them. The coaching staff, it’s just something you can’t spot somewhere else,” Boucard told Gators Online.
“We watched the practice and that was about it. It was nothing too crazy that happened yesterday, but I still had fun.”
Those Gators staff members Boucard is mostly talking about are the aforementioned Gerald Chatman and recruiting assistant Larry Williams.
“Coach Chatman, he is fighting for me every day, so I have to respect that man,” said Boucard.
Florida is all in on this recruitment
With Boucard being a priority, it’s no surprise the Gators made sure to get their point across yesterday. That message was simple and straight to the point but also somewhat telling.
“They told me they want me and are going to keep fighting for me,” said Boucard. “Also, if they can’t get me right now, they said they will for sure be able to flip me.
“I’m going to try to see what they got in their bag to flip me because once I’m committed, I’m staying where I’m at. If it’s Florida, it’s Florida; if it’s not, it’s not.”
The Gators have catching up to do with Floyd Boucard
This past weekend, Boucard went through an eye-opening presentation at Miami for his first official visit. The Hurricanes are trending in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with odds of nearly 30 percent.
Additional official visits to close out June are with USC, Oklahoma and Alabama.
With Florida absent from the itinerary, does that mean the Gators officially have ground to make up?
“Most definitely because unfortunately I didn’t have more (dates) for Florida to fit. That’s unfortunate,” Boucard said. “That doesn’t mean they have to stop recruiting me. If an opportunity comes their way, they just have to take it.”
According to On3’s rankings, Boucard is the No. 40 defensive lineman in the 2025 class.
