Watt had some nervy months after a remarkable run – but he finally got an answer Tuesday night.
The defensive powerhouse is a part owner of Burnley FC in England.
The team are in the Championship, a division below the Premier League.
Watt, 35, promised he would come out of retirement to play for the Cincinnati Bengals in a throwaway bet earlier this year.
The bet was contingent on Burnley FC goalkeeper James Trafford not conceding another goal all season.
Trafford and Burnley’s defence went on a remarkable run over two months and 12 games to leave Watt worried.
But he finally let in a goal Tuesday night in a game against Cardiff City.
And Watt took to X to show his relief that he can stay retired.
“I don’t like Skyline Chili anyway,” he said.
Skyline Chili is a chain of restaurants in the Cincinnati, Ohio region.
Watt later posted, “Cincinnati, that was a fun ride.
“Hope you enjoyed getting to know a bit about Burnley & our squad.
“What an unbelievable run for Traff & the boys.
“An improbable bond formed from across the pond. Bengals fans are welcome on Turf Moor any time.
“As for me: A feast & a drink await.”
It was a win-win evening for Watt as Burnley beat Cardiff 2-1.
They are third in the Championship with a good chance of gaining promotion back to the Premier League.
Watt is one of the best defensive players to ever play the game.
He was selected No. 11 overall in the 2011 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans.
Watt was a three-time Defensive Player of the Year and two-time sack leader during his time there from 2011-2020.
He spent 2021 and 2022 with the Arizona Cardinals before retiring.
Watt now works in the media, where he appears on CBS’s coverage of the NFL and also The Pat McAfee Show.
