Forecasters Warn Of Flooding As Snowmelt Leads To Rivers Rising In NH

CONCORD, NH — New Hampshire will experience a mixed-weather weekend with blustery conditions, possible flooding, and slippery roads.On Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service issued a “hazardous weather outlook” for Thursday through Tuesday as rain and melting snow could cause some flooding.“Rain and snowmelt runoff could lead to nuisance flooding in low-lying areas with poor drainage,” the alert stated. “Localized ice jam flooding remains possible through Friday or until the rivers recede. Freezing temperatures Thursday night could result in prevalent black ice on area roads.”Forecasters said there was a chance of rain on Thursday before 10 a.m. and again in the afternoon. Temperatures will be in the lower 50s. Overnight lows will drop into the 20s, with wind gusts as high as 30 mph. Sunny skies are expected on Friday with temps in the upper 30s. However, it will be breezy — with wind gusts as high as 40 mph. Overnight lows will be in the mid-20s.Similar weather is expected on Saturday and Sunday: Mostly sunny skies during the day, highs in the upper 30s, and overnight lows in the 20s.Monday will also feature partly sunny skies with highs in the upper 30s.
