Las Vegas Woman Charged in Hit-and-Run That Left Pedestrian Critically Injured

Las Vegas became the scene of a grievous hit-and-run on August 11, when a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and critically injured. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the incident took place at around 7:03 p.m. on Charleston Boulevard, east of Broadalbin Drive. The victim, 23-year-old Judson Hicks, was crossing the boulevard outside a marked crosswalk when he was hit by an eastbound 2015 Audi A3.
The Audi, driven by 28-year-old Joscelyne Armendariz-Martinez of Las Vegas, continued on after the collision without stopping to provide aid or information. A witness who observed the crash was able to give a statement to the police, who managed to locate the vehicle shortly after on Lamb Boulevard. Armendariz-Martinez was suspected to have been impaired at the time, and after failing to adequately complete the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, she was arrested and charged.
Emergency services transported Hicks to Sunrise Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remains in critical condition. The passenger in the Audi, identified as 27-year-old Anthony Vera, also of Las Vegas, was unharmed. Following the arrest, Armendariz-Martinez was booked into the Clark County Detention Center and the collision is under ongoing investigation by the Collision Investigation Section of the police department.
Residents are urged to follow traffic laws to ensure their safety and that of others. Police are continuing to look into what led to the collision and will provide updates as the investigation progresses.
