Ewan McGregor Confirms Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 Ideas Being Explored by Disney

Ewan McGregor has delivered some good news for Star Wars fans hoping for Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2. Updates on a second season have been scarce since the show arrived in 2022. However, things are seemingly moving forward and Disney and Lucasfilm are considering another season for McGregor’s fan-favorite character.
Ewan McGregor wishes Hayden Christensen’s return in Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2
Appearing at L.A. Comic-Con, Ewan McGregor was part of a Q&A with fans where he answered questions about Obi-Wan Kenobi’s potential return. The actor confirmed that Disney and Lucasfilm are “exploring” new ideas for Season 2.
Journalist Jamie Jirak, who was in attendance, revealed through X (formerly Twitter) that Ewan McGregor wants to wear the Clone Wars armor and share more scenes with Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker.

This comes after McGregor previously revealed his wishes to return for Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2. While speaking to Variety, he said:
“I really do hope we get a chance to do another one. Between where we ended off in the series and when Alec Guinness comes on screen with Luke Skywalker, I think there’s another few stories to tell in there.”
As there is still a decade of timeline between the end of Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 1 and A New Hope, Lucasfilm could potentially create another prequel story starring McGregor as Obi-Wan. This could see the fan-favorite character face off against Hayden Christensen’s Darth Vader once again or it could see the return of Obi-Wan’s old foe Darth Maul. Originally appearing in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Maul is seen alive at the end of Solo: A Star Wars Story, the events of which are set after Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 1.
However, no story ideas have been revealed at the time of writing. The schedule for future Star Wars projects is currently packed with several upcoming projects including The Mandalorian & Grogu, Andor Season 2, Skeleton Crew, Ahsoka Season 2, and many more. Whether Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 will be prioritized over any of these projects remains to be seen.
