Horror moment man accidentally sets himself on fire while ‘trying to burn down ex’s home with her and kids in it’
WHILE attempting to set his ex’s home on fire with her children still inside, a man found himself ablaze instead, said police.
Artemio Sanchez-Ortega, 46, is still on the run after investigators say he tried to commit arson in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on May 13.

The incident was captured on video by Daniel Provine, who quickly sent the footage to authorities.
“I made sure it was made available to the investigators,” Provine told local ABC affiliate KOAT-TV.
“The absurdity of seeing someone with such bitterness light the fire and the ineptitude to get caught in flames, in the process.
“It was absolutely absurd and really unfortunate.”
“The instant karma of the situation was weirdly satisfying,” he continued.
“But to see that he managed to get back to his truck and drive off and make an escape before anyone really noticed was unfortunate.”
According to a criminal complaint, Sanchez-Ortega called his ex-girlfriend three times before the incident.
The ex-girlfriend told police that during one of those phone calls, she “could tell he was drinking.”
Albuquerque Fire Rescue arrived at the scene after two cars caught on fire with flames spreading to a third vehicle and the victim’s home.
Multiple people were at the home at the time of the incident “including children,” read the complaint.
The suspect’s ex-girlfriend and her children weren’t hurt following the attempt.
Before sending it to police, Provine shared the chilling footage on Facebook.
“Don’t commit arson … but if you’re going to commit arson, maybe figure out how to do it without catching yourself on fire in the process?” he wrote.
The footage showed a bright burst of flames as a man could be seen trying to run away from the scene and falling in the process.
The small fire on the man appeared to burn out just before he disappeared off-screen.
He drove away in a white pickup truck, said police.
“But also, maybe just don’t?” Provine added in his post.
He continued, saying that if his video generated some revenue, he would donate most of it to the victims.
